Congratulations to Natalie Marsh from Katherine's Monday Art Class who won the Junior Open Art prize for her acrylic painting of 'Dinosaurs'. Congratulations too to Terry Chipp for winning a prize for a commended work for his pencil drawing 'Boat House on the Creek'. Congratulations also to the overall winner Donna Bramall for 'Tea for Two' made from recycled card and to Elizabeth Savage and Elizabeth Mockler for their commended works. A handful of Katherine's students also had paintings accepted: David Fennell-Roberts, Chris Wright, Ellie Bint, Cynthia Cairns and Brian Dobson. Well done to them all. Natalie and Terry are pictured receiving their prizes from Doncaster Mayor Peter Davies and with all the winners. Chris, Ellie and Cynthia are pictured next to their artworks.
The annual 'Open Art' exhibition highlights some of the best work submitted by artists and craftspeople working in the region. This year over 420 works were submitted by artists, and from that initial entry a final exhibition of 280 works has been chosen.
Katherine, Nathan and Terry had paintings accepted into the Open Art Exhibition at Doncaster Museum both collectively and individually. The Brevon Studio Artists also feature in the exhibition with their collective painting 'A Sunny September Day on Thorne Road'. The group will be doing a performance/ demonstration together at the Museum in the new year.
